Lónsöræfi Nature Reserve

Lónsöræfi nature reserve is one of Iceland´s greatest hiking areas. Famous for its rock formations, canyons and vibrant colours! Lónsöræfi is a remote area, wonderful for hikers seeking solitude in Icelandic nature. There are a few mountain huts in the hiking land, thereof one in Kollumúli that accommodates up to 30 people. Please note that you have to cross dangerous rivers to enter Lónsöræfi and you need a well equipped 4WD jeep to get there. It is recommended to go there with someone who is familiar with the area.
