Jökulsárlón (Icel. Glacial Lagoon) on
Breiðamerkursandur is a natural wonder, where huge icebergs float
on the lagoon. The lagoon started to form around 1934 and is now
around 200 meters deep by the edge of the glacier. There is a fjord
underneath the glacier where the lagoon is even deeper. Being a
truly unique place, the glacier lagoon is one of the most visited
destinations in Iceland.
In the summertime there are guided boat trips among the icebergs
that nobodyshould miss! They are suitable for the whole family and
take around 30-40 minutes. Great for photographing and viewing
wildlife, as birdlife is rich and seals a common sight. There is a
small café by the lagoon offering some souvenirs and refreshments.

as a their delicious seafood soup or freshly baked waffle with
whipped cream.Jökulsárlón in easily accessible, only 200 meters
