Vatnajökull Travel was established in July 2005 by Guðbrandur
Jóhannsson, who is the owner and operator of the company. It
emphasises on transportation and travel packages in the region of
Vatnajökull Glacier, offering unique travel experience all year
round!
During the summer months (June - August) we offer exciting tours
up to the magnificent Vatnajökull glacier where you can have a
thrilling time driving a snowmobile. That is followed by an
unforgettable boat tour on Jökulsárlón, where you sail among huge
icebergs that have broken from the majestic glacier. While doing
that you can have a taste of the over 1000 year old crystal clear
ice! For those who want to visit Iceland during the cosy winter
months (October-April) we offer unforgettable packages to the
Vatnajökull region where you are likely to see the spectacular
northern lights in stunning surroundings! You will visit some of
our natural treasures like the well known Jökulsárlón and Hoffell
glacier where you can dip into a natural hot tub and relax after a

Guðbrandur Jóhannsson - owner and director:
Guðbrandur was born in Northwest Iceland in 1949. Educated as a
teacher he has over thirty years of experience teaching
mathematics, physics and first aid. While still teaching he started
offering boat rides on Jökulsárlón glacial lagoon, in 1985. Later,
he added daily summertime 4WD services into the wilderness of
Lónsöræfi, while recently his principal work has been in tourism
and driving school buses. Alongside his great experience in the
tourism industry, Guðbrandur Jóhannsson has worked on many filming
and advertising projects in the area. A few to mention are the Bond
movies A View to a Kill and Die another Day. He has also worked for
Vogue Magazine and National Geographic.
Ragnar Th. Sigurðsson - photographer:
Ragnar Th. Sigurðsson ( b. 1958 ) is a professional
photographer, educated in Sweden and Iceland. He started as a news
photographer in 1975 but has had his own studio and graphic-work
firm since 1985. Ragnar masters a broad range of work, including
studio advertising photography, illustrations of travel
publications, annual reports and covering of official arrangements.
He has for example covered many events arranged by the Export
Council of Iceland, the Scientific Council of Iceland and the
President of Iceland and well as numerous banks, corporations and
institutions. He has provided illustrations for a number of books,
calendars and magazines.
